Open Art
Great for all ages! Ages 6 to Adult.
Personalized mentorship in developing your own artistic style and portfolio of mixed media artworks. Open Art is student centered creating through choice. This course provides a platform to build confidence, dedication, and self expression.
Course Description:

Students choose their focus art mediums.

We work together on planning and developing themes, learning about relevant artists and exploring an array of techniques & creative exercises.

Art options include: sculpture, watercolor, collage, weaving, sewing, crocheting, printmaking, nature inspired, photography, stop motion animation and clay.

“Open Art” can be focused on expressive art-making, with the spotlight being on experimentation and the mindfulness process of making art as a modality for holistic self expression.
What does an Open Art look like?
1. Sketchbook Challenge
-
Class will start with a drawing prompt, based on a specific theme/ concept
2. Art Inspiration
-
Then the teacher will share artwork of a well-known/ current artist, which highlights a specific medium technique. There will be a mini dialogue and artistic critique about the artwork
3. Open Studio
-
Open Studio will be the majority of the class, where the teacher will meet with students 1:1 to discuss their artistic vision. Students will be guided on choosing what materials they would like to work with and what their theme is for their artistic creation. Each student's project will be individualized to their creative visions and interests.

Depending on the students ability and needs, art themes and specific art teaching techniques can be provided to create more structure for the student to create.
4. Art Demo

A specific art technique will be taught each class, to expose students to different materials and provide inspiration of how they can manipulate different materials for their envisioned aesthetic.
5. Art Shares

Towards the end of class, students will share and check in with each other regarding how their art piece is developing. They will provide feedback to each other to create a studio culture of feedback and creative collaboration.

2-D Art: Painting, Collage, Drawing, Printmaking

3-D Art: Sculpture, Jewelry, Clay, Found Object, Sewing, Weaving
